Over the centuries, new materials and techniques have regularly been adopted by artists. Ranging from charcoal to oil paints and acrylics, from a flat representation of reality to spatial scenes full of perspective.
An extensive range of schools, movements and styles of painting also emerged in parallel to these developments. The result is an enormous treasure trove of artistic heritage that is more than worthy of being preserved for posterity.
